All Star Opera
Based out of SEATTLE, All Star Opera at surface level is a Hip-Hop/Soul band.
Listen a little closer and one will find a collective of artists balancing a diversity of talents and influences. Two emcees, Flow Carter and Oz + a four-piece band play back and forth creating a vivid sound migrating between genres with both attitude and grace. This is Hip-Hop. This is Soul. This is a collective experience being channeled by a band of brothers in groove. This is a full moon in the middle of the day. Or as the six-fingered beast says, this is All Star Opera.
Carla Bell wrote in June 2018 for the Tacoma News-Tribune:
“Take Miles Davis and hope, Anthony Kiedis and a journey, Kahlua and cream and confidence, your best Nicaraguan cigar and slippers, a cozy, dimly lit corner booth, a soft rain Sunday afternoon and Weezer, a little heated massage oil and Black Thought and those hanging, beaded room dividers.
Now, pour that in your ear.
With a sound just that distinct yet familiar but also fresh, All Star Opera is like a new old friend.”
She’s not wrong.
All Star Opera is the nexus where groovy, meets a rock star hustle; for the last two years the six-fingered beast has been tearing through the Pacific Northwest music scene. Since dropping their debut EP (2016) + LP (2017), the band has played 50+ shows all over the western United States, unleashing the magic at clubs, parties and many notable music festivals. To top it off, All Star Opera was voted Seattle Weekly’s ‘Best Band in Seattle’ 2017. With ASO the goals are simple, make great music and have fun while doing it.

La Fonda is a lyrically-driven, indie dream pop band defined by two sisters, singer-songwriters Veronica and Valerie Topacio. The band explores love, longing, and loss with smart, rich vocals, reverberating, 60s surf-esque guitars, driving basslines, catchy melodies and 90s alt-rock nostalgia.
The group started in the summer of 2014 around the time Veronica and Valerie began writing songs and busking at Pike Place Market. The sisters grew up in a musical family and singing in the living room with guitars was a regular affair. Magic happened when they reconnected with guitarist Jesse Cole, a long-time friend whose blue-wave guitar style mixes perfectly with their harmonies. The Topacio sisters and Cole then met another musical soulmate, bassist Bryan Dever. Soon after, Dever’s childhood friend Patrick Hodge joined the ensemble on keys/synth. La Fonda looks to music as a compass to help them navigate through the compounding pressures and disarray of adulthood while attempting to adapt and find their way in an all-consuming digitalized and increasingly polarized society.
United in musical comradery and like-minded introspection, La Fonda spent 2016 at Electrokitty Studios in Wallingford, WA, recording and producing their debut EP, “Good Love,” with head engineer and assistant to Phil Ek, Garrett Reynolds. The result was a moody tripod of love-songs that explore the interplay of loyalty in relationships complimented by their party anthem “FOMO,” whose music video was premiered by Impose Magazine in 2017.
Having built a presence playing in front of packed crowds at hometown venues including The Crocodile and Neumos, opening up most recently for national touring acts such as Snail Mail and having made appearances in 2018 festivals such as Capitol Hill Block Party and Fisherman’s Village. The band appears to be on a meteoric rise since returning from a month-long tour in Spring 2018. Their latest release, “In the Summer,” a breezy beach-tinged indie banger was applauded by numerous blogs for its “beautifully harmonized vocals, rich instrumentation, surf-inspired guitars, and enhancing layers of synths.”
Currently working on their debut album, they are anxious to unveil new material in early 2019. Using their struggles as a creative muse, the band articulates what it’s like living on the edge of paycheck-to-paycheck while healing through break-ups, the lingering effects of infidelity, stripped confidence, and adolescent traumas, all while attempting to manage manic-like tendencies and addiction whilst trying to make sense of the often debilitating realities of living in a world that is designed to make people feel like they are never good enough. Preparing for an epic release, the band hopes their music steers people closer to their core, reminding listeners that the world needs more people dedicated to showing up fully in love and life as their most authentic, confident and beautifully vulnerable selves.

"Whitney Mongé — a former busker who started with seven cover songs and a lot of guts, a woman who writes emotional songs for people who listen to the words, a role model for young brown girls who want to play music, a super smart college dropout, an avid gardener in her neighborhood P-Patch, a weed-smoking collector of vinyl records, a better pool player than you — might just be Seattle’s next big star." --Bill Reader, The Seattle Times Aug 5th 2018
